A/N: I wasn't going to do spn_cinema this year. But then cassiopeia7 said she reeeeeally wanted a J2 "Hunt for Red October", and killabeez said, "What if it was in space?" and I said, "Damn it," and here we are. It's also a bit of an homage to Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars trilogy, one of my favorite sci-fi series of all time and well worth the read. Thanks to dugindeep for her encouragement and support on finishing this, and for providing an excellent beta job.
